    5 out of 5 stars Super   January 8, 2009
My husband wanted this for Christmas. I am so glad I bought it for him. We had to move a 52 in TV up the stairs. We moved it with no problem at all. I have a bad back and I didn't have any problem moving it with this. My husband was moving a friend out and his son and him used it to move the furniture. They said it works great. Glad I didn't buy the cheap one.

4 out of 5 stars Buyer Beware   January 7, 2009
I wish I could give this product 3.5 stars, because while it is useful, it is not perfect for everyone. My boyfriend and I bought this to move a monster-sized 200lb CRT tv from downstairs to upstairs. We were able to pick it up from the stand, which would have never happened without the Shoulder Dolly. With lots of time and manuevering, we were able to get it to the stairway. However, it was SO awkward and heavy that we weren't comfortable attempting to carry it up the stairs, even with this product. If you look at the pictures on here, you'll see that all of the people are about the same height and look to have about the same strength capacity. I'm 5'1 and 120lbs; my boyfriend is 6'3 and 220 lbs. This product really was not made to accommodate such a height/strength difference. Had he had someone with him that was his body type, they likely would've been able to do it without much of a problem (which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 3). But he bore the weight of the tv (making him very sore the next day), while the tv was tilted towards me, making it even harder for me to manage.

All in all, it's a good product for the right people and right item, but just know it's not going to work in all circumstances.

    4 out of 5 stars Worked like a charm!   December 16, 2008
This product was wonderful. It does need some padding on the shoulders but it did it's job. We moved an entire house of furniture and it really saved our backs!

5 out of 5 stars Awesome, especially if you have limited upper body strength!   December 15, 2008
Being a 60 year old woman, who always had limited upper body strength, short arms and back problems; this is too good to be true! I could not believe how easily I helped carry a sofa bed upstairs, something I could never have done at any age! I helped carry a wiggly mattress with ease.
Go to shoulderdolly.com and watch the video, especially the very important info about how to navigate going up and down stairs. It works great when you follow the instructions EXACTLY. Using your arms correctly (pushing against the item), lifting with your legs , getting the strap positioned correctly and lifting high enough are the essentials in a successful move. Before lifting don't forget to tie up the extra strap length. O.K. guys, I know you don't like to read directions; but, it will be a breeze if you at least watch the short video.
Like others stated, it can be a little rough on the neck. Wearing something with the collar up helps. I found some snap on protectors that my mom used to keep the seat belt from rubbing her neck and I am going to try these next time. Also, being a small frame person with very small shoulders, it tends to slip down some in the front on me. That makes it extremely important to make sure the strap is pulled tight enough for a correct height lift. I saw they had a heavy duty version for professional that is padded; however, at almost $300, I'll take this bargain and wear a shirt.
5 stars for lifting, 4 stars for the neck

    5 out of 5 stars Shoulder Dolly LD1000   December 12, 2008
The shoulder dolly is fantastic. I purchased it to move A/C condensers from a three story building to the back yard. I already have many more uses for it.
